Normal

I've been thinking about this for the past couple of weeks now. I am sitting here in my living room with my son on my lap, watching cartoons and blogging. And what do I hear outside, artillery booms from the range somewhere nearby. And this is normal for us. Sometimes the blasts are so powerful they shake the windows.

Is is strange that I pay no mind to gun blasts anymore, lol.

So what is normal for you? Love to hear your comments.

It's amazing how quickly you get used to the noises of your neighborhood. I love the part of My Cousin Vinnie where he needs to be in prison to sleep because the quiet creeps him out:) For us, the norm is train whistles and crashing waves, two sounds I love!

Wow. That is not normal! ;)
My normal seems to be constant, noise and chatter. When all the boys are in bed and the house is quiet it sounds odd.

We have artillery too. There's a range very nearby for planes to shoot. But I don't even hear it anymore.

Growing up it was fire engines. Remember how close the fire station was to my house? Less than two blocks away. We heard every single fire truck.......but we didn't really hear any of them.

where I used to live there was a train that ran through the backyard and the Stealth always flying over. :)

Hmmm . . .eating standing up, maybe? Honestly, I don't remember the last time I sat down at a table to eat. It's very sad.

That's sad... just too sad when that becomes normal. My normal sound is this: construction trucks. Old neighborhood and everyone is renovating. Why can't they just leave things as they are?

I can't imagine getting used to that noise, but I suppose you would after a while.

What's normal here? How we're all becoming used to the stink of our bulldog puppy's gas. Bleck.
